Jalimali fully supports the principles of fair trade and not aid and we strive to ensure that fair trade practices are in place in all areas of our business right through from the design and production of our products to purchase and shipment.

Our products are sourced from Nepal, India and Thailand where they are designed and produced in small community based workshops which have been sourced by Jalimali. We work very closely with our producers and we even design some of the products. We have now worked with our producers for a number of years and have developed excellent working relationships and friendships. We regularly visit the workshops during the few months that we spend out there each year and provide the essential security of regular orders to keep production going.

We pay fair prices for all of our goods and buy directly from the people that produce them so cutting out any middle men this ensures that the benefits go directly back to the communities that produce them. We also ensure that orders are always paid on time this means that workers will be paid and are producers are able to avoid going into debt.

We are currently in the process of seeking official Fair Trade status.
